Meridian Living-City Simulation Case Study

A working local engine exploring a persistent digital world through Orb, five UI districts, four fictional residents, 100 dependency-linked milestones across 50 simulated years and scripted local chat.

Meridian began with one question: what if a digital world did not reset when you left?

What it is

A working local engine for an immersive world: cinematic navigation, deterministic city state, localStorage persistence and scripted local chat.

Who it serves

People exploring evolving digital worlds, deterministic simulations, narrative systems and ambient interfaces.

The brief

I set out to build a city in a glass case—people, jobs, homes, weather, resources and rules, all running on a clock that keeps moving.

The work

Orb is the window into that world: a charcoal-and-mint experience opening through clear glass onto a bird's-eye city. The working local engine delivers five UI districts, four fictional residents, 100 dependency-linked milestones across 50 simulated years, localStorage persistence and scripted local chat.

The result

The current local engine delivers five UI districts, four fictional residents, 100 dependency-linked milestones across 50 simulated years, localStorage persistence and scripted local chat. Evolving the simulation toward self-replication and an autonomous world is the long-term direction; the build has no external AI/API dependency or external actions and is not a realtime, shared or production world.

Build a world that can keep evolving.

Meridian is my long-term exploration of an immersive AI world with enough structure to evolve and, eventually, investigate self-replication as a future capability.

A deterministic city across fifty simulated years.

The working local engine connects five UI districts and four fictional residents to 100 dependency-linked milestones across 50 simulated years.

A cinematic guide and front door.

Orb leads the scroll journey through Meridian, keeping the interface restrained while local world state, places and scripted events remain visible underneath.

A local foundation that remembers.

localStorage persistence carries state across the local engine and gives the wider ambition a dependable system to grow from.
